Lesley Residency 2026

This installation is about the objects and memories that tell my family's story.

I grew up in a home my grandfather built, surrounded by the things he left behind. These objects tell of his life in peru, his journey to america, and the years he spent working with my father to build our house.

from my mother's side, I have almost nothing. When they moved from ecuador to an apartment in new jersey, they couldn't bring much with them. learning about my grandmother, whom i never knew, was more difficult and required more questions.

meeting my ancestors through the objects and stories that remember them has made me wonder about what i'll eventually leave behind, and whether those things will tell my story well.

these are some of the letters, pictures, art, and keepsakes that i would leave behind that would tell my story.
